THE SUITCASE OF DREAMS

THE SUITCASE OF DREAMS

Many years ago, a young immigrant arrived in a new country with only one suitcase. Inside it were a few clothes, a photograph of the family, and something far more valuable. Dreams.

The airport was crowded. The language sounded unfamiliar. The weather felt colder than anything he had known before. Everything seemed different. But the dream inside that suitcase was bigger than the fear.

The first job was not glamorous. The hours were long, and the pay was small. His feet were tired at the end of each day. Some days felt lonely. Some days, people doubted him. There were even moments when he doubted himself. But immigrants carry a unique strength within them.

They carry courage; the courage to leave everything familiar behind.

They carry resilience, the ability to begin again in a completely new place.

They carry vision. The belief that tomorrow can be better than today.

Years passed. The small job slowly turned into valuable experience.

The struggles gradually became wisdom. The loneliness eventually turned into community.

One day, the immigrant looked around and realized something remarkable. The dream he carried in that suitcase had grown into a life filled with opportunity. A home had been built. A career had developed. Doors had opened for the next generation, and then he understood something even more powerful. The suitcase was never really about what was inside it. It was always about the strength inside the person carrying it.

Today, immigrants across the world continue to walk this same path. They cross borders with hope in their hearts and determination in their steps. Their journeys are not signs of weakness. They are evidence of extraordinary courage.

If you are an immigrant anywhere in the world, remember that your story matters. Your challenges are shaping your strength. Your persistence is creating opportunities that could benefit not only you but also your family and future generations.

Your story is still being written. One day, someone will hear about your journey, and it will give them the courage to begin their own.

Immigrants do more than move from one place to another. They create connections, build communities, and open doors that others will walk through in the future. In doing so, they build bridges for generations.

I don't know why my eyes welled up in tears, maybe because this is so relatable. We may have taken a step backward, but it was only a spring to catapault us to the rooms where we deserve to be feom the beginning. Keep persevering Chika. Dear writer, thank you for this piece.
